Privacy & Data Use

Privacy Policy

Effective May 4, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how CK Film & Entertainment LLC (“CK Film & Entertainment LLC”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use watch.ckindiefilms.com (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this Policy and our Terms of Service.

Information we collect

  • Account. Email address and (optional) display name + profile picture, collected through our identity provider, Clerk.
  • Payments. When you purchase, rent, or subscribe, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your billing information directly. We store only an opaque customer reference and metadata about each transaction (amount, date, item).
  • Viewing telemetry. Session start/stop timestamps, device user-agent, approximate IP-derived country, and a session UUID per playback. We use this to enforce the concurrent-stream limit, to forensically watermark playbacks, and to investigate suspected abuse.
  • Watch progress. Per-film resume position so you can continue where you left off. Owner-scoped.

How we use your information

We use account data to authenticate you, deliver the films you have rented/purchased/subscribed to, and contact you about your account. We use payment data only to process the transaction. We use session metadata to enforce contractual limits (e.g. the two-stream cap) and to investigate suspected piracy or fraud. We do not sell your personal information.

Sub-processors

We rely on the following service providers to deliver the Service. Each is contractually bound to use your data only on our instructions:

  • Clerk — authentication and identity
  • Stripe — payment processing and tax collection
  • Cloudflare — edge security, video delivery, DRM keys
  • Supabase — database hosting
  • Vercel — application hosting
  • Resend — transactional email

Cookies and similar technologies

We use strictly-necessary cookies for authentication (set by Clerk) and billing portal handoff (set by Stripe). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies and we do not load any third-party analytics scripts. Your browser may also store minimal local data (a rate-limiter token, a video-player state cache) — none of which leaves your device.

Account deletion and data rights

You may request deletion of your account at any time by emailing ckfilmentertainment@gmail.com. We will delete your account, entitlements, and viewing history within thirty (30) days, except where we are legally required to retain transaction records (typically seven years for tax purposes per IRS rules) or where retention is necessary to enforce our rights or investigate fraud.

California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA / CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request access or deletion, and to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising purposes. To exercise your CCPA rights, contact ckfilmentertainment@gmail.com with subject line “CCPA Request”. We will respond within the statutory 45-day window.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (per COPPA) and is intended only for users 18+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at ckfilmentertainment@gmail.com and we will promptly delete it.

Forensic watermarking

Each playback session embeds a unique session identifier and a visible watermark naming the account email. This is described more fully in our Acceptable Use Policy. The watermark is a security measure to deter piracy and to identify unauthorized re-distribution; it is not used for advertising or any third-party purpose.

DMCA / Copyright claims

See our DMCA notice and designated agent for information on submitting copyright infringement claims.

Jurisdiction and governing law

This Policy is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts of Fayette County, Kentucky.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted with a revised effective date and, where required, communicated by email at least 30 days before they take effect.
